GOHL: Warriors win in Elmira after winning streak snapped

Stratford Warriors built up a lead and then held on for a 4-3 win at Elmira on Sunday.

The Warriors led 4-1 after goals from Max Wildfong, Coen Galbraith, Grady Murphy and Aaron Green.

Eli Humphrey scored with two seconds left in the middle frame and added another in the third but that’s as close as the Sugar Kings would get. Ryan Cornfield had scored for the Sugar Kings as the teams combined for six goals in the second period.

The Warriors seven-game win streak ended Friday night at home in a 3-2 shootout loss to Strathroy Rockets.

Grady Murphy and Colin Slattery scored for the Warriors. Dylan Searles and Zachary LeBlanc scored for the Rockets.

Also Sunday, Lyndon Cabral scored two second period power play goals to pace Listowel to a 4-1 win over Stoney Creek.

Heath Bradley and Roman Shtefan also scored for the host Cyclones. Cooper Couture had the lone goal for the Generals.

On Friday, the Cyclones doubled up the visiting Sarnia Legionnaires 4-2. Ethan Fischer, Shayne Keefe, Clarke deBoer and Bradley scored for Listowel. Michael Pavlovic scored twice for Sarnia.

St. Marys Lincolns also went the shootout route on Friday night to defeat host St. Thomas Stars 3-2.

Blake Elzinga and Callum McAuley scored for the Lincolns.

Andrei Gudin and Tyson Orr scored for the Stars.
