Do you have what it takes to be Stratford’s next Youth Poet Laureate?

Local residents with a passion for poetry, storytelling, and the literary or performing arts are encouraged to apply for Stratford Youth Poet Laureate for the 2027 term.

According to a media release, the program celebrates literary and spoken-word artists, ages 14-24, whose work enriches the community through poetry and reflects the experiences, ideas, and issues that matter in Stratford and area.

Arlo Dunnem was appointed Stratford’s second youth poet laureate and is currently serving a one-year term, sharing their work and championing youth voices throughout the community.

The program is a partnership between Destination Stratford and Stratford Public Library.

Serving as an ambassador for poetry, language, literacy, and the arts, the youth poet laureate helps amplify youth voices, inspire creative expression, and foster a deeper appreciation for the power of words.

The successful applicant will be invited to share their work at community events, represent the perspectives of local youth, and encourage others to explore poetry and creative expression.

Applications will be received until Nov. 30, 2026. Application details can be found at the Stratford Public Library website.
