Test on Skunk Comes Back Positive for Rabies

The Perth District Health Unit says a skunk found in Elma Ward has come back positive for rabies.

It’s the fourth animal to come back positive from testing in Perth County after a number of cows were found to have the disease.

The MNRF says it’s going to step up its bait dropping, as the bait used contains a vaccine when animals eat it.

Our local health unit says to make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies, to keep away from any animals acting strangely and report anything suspicious to authorities.
