You’re being reminded to make sure you serve up fire safety in the kitchen.
This is Fire Prevention Week and this year’s theme is all about fire safety in the kitchen with the number one cause of fires in the home being kitchen related.
Usually Stratford firefighters are out visiting schools and in the community to promote the week but they haven’t been able to do that this year due to COVID-19 guidelines.
However, Fire Prevention Officer Rod MacDonald says they still want to get the message out about being safe.
“Stay in the kitchen while you’re cooking and turn off the stove when you must leave the kitchen.”
MacDonald adds you should also make sure your mind is on safety in the kitchen and you should never be impaired by things like alcohol or drugs.
