New “Care Kit” program launched in Listowel

The idea was launched by a Perth County OPP Sergeant who saw members of the community struggling with financial hardship.  Earlier this year, the officer witnessed firsthand people suffering from the impact of homelessness.

The “Care Kits”, in partnership with the North Perth Homelessness Taskforce, which is comprised of individuals from The Salvation Army – Listowel, City of Stratford Social Services, Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance, Perth County OPP – North Perth Detachment, and the Municipality of North Perth, will be given to vulnerable people in the community.

The kits have service maps, information pamphlets, snacks, beverages, and sunscreen and will be available through members of the OPP.

Perth County OPP Sergeant Manny Coelho says finding resources can be challenging, “As a community, it can be challenging to identify what resources and support is needed for those enduring financial hardships. The North Perth Homelessness Taskforce is hopeful that the Care Kit can offer first steps to those seeking assistance.”

It is hoped they will provide assistance to vulnerable people to find resources available in the community.
