City council approves replacement of Mornington Street bridge

The Mornington Street bridge will be replaced.

The bridge has a unique issue in which the outside concrete is hard, but the interior has softened.

At last night’s meeting Stratford city council heard a couple of options to address the situation.

Council voted in favour of closing the road so that the bridge can be removed and replaced at an estimated cost of $400,000.

The other option would have allowed the road to stay open with the installation of a temporary but non-reusable bridge at a cost of $180,000.

The project will require Mornington Street to be closed between Vivian Line and Graff Avenue until the fall of 2015.
