Many organizers are offering their own spin on Halloween celebration in Stratford.
Multiple events are scheduled from Friday to Sunday for the spookiest time of the year.
Friday will see the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth hosting their Meowmosa fundraiser at Stratford Country Club.
The event features a buffet dinner, beverages, games, activities, and a costume contest.
Manager of Events & Partnerships for humane society Dani Connelly said this is a chance to celebrate Halloween in a memorable way while supporting the organization.
Funds raised will provide shelter, care, support, and second chances for local animals.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m.
For Halloween itself, the Holy Trinity Anglican Church is inviting the community to the Spooky Tower.
“You get to climb up the stairs of the tower and he (the chimer) helps you ring the bells, and then you get a certificate saying ‘rang the bells at holy spooky towers’,” President of the Anglican Church Women Karen Haslam told MyStratfordNow.
She said this will be a fun event for kids.
Haslam said there will be coffee, treats and tea available for families.
The drop-in event is located at the Anglican Church, and runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
Also happening on Halloween is a trick-or-treat open house at Woodland Towers and a Retro 80s dance party at the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans Hall.
Woodland Towers and Hamlet Estates activity coordinator Kim Luckhardt said those living in the facility are excited for the open house.
“They’re preparing over 400 candy bags, so we set up quite the production line to make it happen and they work so hard together. In fact, the residents donate all of the candy.”
She said they have all of their costumes planned for the event.
She added this brings the community to their home.
“Many of our residents don’t have grandchildren, so they don’t get this opportunity to connect with the community, especially young children.”
The open house is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
P.M Lighting owner Brian Pugh said for the dance party, you can expect a Halloween atmosphere.
“We’re going to have our full lighting show there with the lasers and the fog and everything.”
DJ Gerry Bell, also known as Jazzy Jerry, said the songs he will play include Monster Bash, Thriller, Ghostbusters and other Halloween-themed music.
The event has a $10 cover charge and will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Sunday will see the city’s annual pumpkin parade, where carved pumpkins can be dropped off that day after noon behind City Hall.
The parade starts at 5 p.m. at Market Square.
