Faculty at 24 Ontario Colleges now on Strike

Fanshawe and Conestoga colleges have released more information on what students can expect as faculty are on strike.

The union and Ontario colleges failed to reach a deal on Friday.

While campuses in Stratford, Kitchener-Waterloo and Ingersoll are remaining open, all classes are suspended until further notice.

Any special events normally handled by college faculty are also cancelled.

College management also rejected several offers from the union over the weekend.

OPSEU says the colleges’ most recent offer outlined a nearly eight per cent wage increase over the next four years, but it lacked in areas such as overtime flexibility, pregnancy leave and academic freedom.

So far, no new talks have been scheduled.

Both Fanshawe and Conestoga have released more details on what students can expect over the course of the strike.
