AMDSB Superintendent Addresses Classroom Violence Report from ETFO

Keeping students and faculty alike safe isn’t a new concept for the Avon Maitland District Schoolboard.

That’s according to its Superintendent of Education, Jodie Baker who says curbing violence in the classroom is a big concern for the board.

It comes following a recent ETFO survey in which 70 per cent of the teacher’s federation say they have experienced violence or witnessed violence in the classroom.

Baker says the board is always actively working on improving safety.

Those are just a few of the programs and resources offered in local schools.

Three quarters of the respondents of the ETFO survey say actions taken by schools to prevent repeated violence aren’t enough.
