Paramedic Services Coming up with Plan to Tackle Off-load Delays at Stratford General

Paramedics in Perth County saw more than 250 hours of offload delay at the Stratford General Hospital through the month of January.

Those delays have been steadily trending up, since county EMS began tracking the time is takes to off-load patients to emergency rooms in Stratford in 2016.

Director of Emergency Services Linda Rockwood says those numbers were up through the first month of 2018 partially due to a spike in urgent flu cases.

In response to the rising numbers, Perth County Paramedic Services is coming up with a plan to specifically tackle the problem getting paramedics back out into the county where they’re needed.

A plan which would allow paramedics to divert patients to other area hospitals is set to be before Perth County Council sometime in the next month.
