No Government Money for Bridge Repairs

Perth County council will move ahead with a $1.27 million West Perth bridge replacement on its own, without government funding.

At last Thursday’s council meeting, director of public works, John McClelland, told councilors that the Meyer Bridge replacement scheduled was not selected for funding through the Ontario Infrastructure Fund which could have provided the county with up to $1.19 million for the project.

But because the bridge, on Perth Line 44 between Brodhagen and Bornholm, has deteriorated to the point where load restrictions are in effect, the county is going to proceed with the replacement project this year.    No start date has been revealed yet.
