High speed internet coming to St.Marys

“One of the most exciting announcements in the Town of St.Marys for many, many years.”

That’s what St.Marys Mayor Al Strathdee is calling an announcement by Quadro Communications to invest $10-million to bring fibre optics technology to the community.

The announcement of the three-year project was made at St.Marys Town Hall Monday morning and Quadro says it means fibre optic networks which provide fast internet service will be installed throughout the town in ten project phases which will start in the spring, as soon as weather permits.

Mayor Strathdee says it’s vital that communities have fast internet service in the world we live in.

“We have to look at internet service connectivity as infrastructure now, just like we look at roads and sewers and so forth, so this is huge, this puts us on the map actually and companies can progress and be modern and do business in St.Marys”

Quadro says two of the phases have already or are close to being completed and the first residents and buildings should be connected at some point in the summer.
