Area school boards react to provincial announcement

Local officials say they weren’t expecting the province to announce that schools won’t be reopening for in-person learning for a few weeks.
The Avon Maitland District School Board says they learned of the change at the same time as the public and they are required to follow the direction of the provincial government.
Starting Wednesday and in place until at least January 17th, all students in Ontario are moving to online learning.
Families are being asked to contact their school principal as soon as possible so that a device can be set up and prepared to be picked up Tuesday afternoon.
